Job Overview

Project Coordinator role is to assist the supervisor with coordinating and assigning project-related tasks, support the development and organization of proposal documents, and help maintain and track engineering service requests. This includes ensuring that estimates, completion dates, and status updates remain accurate and current. The Project Coordinator will serve as the engineering point of contact for work control processes, providing updates on project status, cost tracking, and documentation needs.

 

Additional responsibilities include supporting project controls with scheduling requirements, monitoring progress against milestones, facilitating communication among engineering team members, and helping ensure alignment with department goals. The Project Coordinator may also assist with maintaining project standards, supporting training initiatives, and providing general administrative and coordination support across engineering activities.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and track day‑to‑day engineering project activities at NASA Stennis Space Center.
  • Support development, organization, and assembly of proposal documents and supporting materials.
  • Maintain and update engineering service requests, ensuring estimates, scope details, and completion dates remain accurate.
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for work control, providing updates on project status, costs, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and assist with cost tracking, schedule adherence, and milestone reporting.
  • Support project controls personnel with scheduling inputs, timeline updates, and resource coordination.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering staff, project managers, and work control teams to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
  • Assist Engineering Management with coordinating and assigning project‑related tasks.
  • Maintain project documentation standards and support improvements to workflows and processes.
  • Track and report on action items, risks, and issues affecting project execution.
  • Support training initiatives and onboarding related to project management tools or procedures.
  • Assist with Maximo purchase requests, purchase orders, receiving invoices, and accruals.
  • Monitor logistics of shipments and deliveries for projects.
  • Support project management office with change management, including change requests, change orders, RFIs, Transmittals, variance logs, and change notifications.
  • Participate in project reviews and status meetings.
  • Support project report development and Data Requirements Deliverables, including weekly PC19 and monthly FA02 Design and FA03 Construction status quads.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, OR 6 years of experience in engineering/project management‑related disciplines, OR a combined 3–5 years of relevant education and experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen test.
  • Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
  • Will ensure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Strong understanding of project coordination and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with engineering workflows, service request processes, and work control systems.
  • Ability to track and manage project schedules, milestones, and cost data.
  • Skilled in organizing and assembling proposal documents and supporting materials.
  • Proficiency in interpreting estimates, scopes of work, and completion criteria.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating between engineering teams, work control, and project controls.
  • Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and ensure version control.
  • Experience using project management tools or software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Competence in identifying risks, tracking action items, and reporting status updates.
  • Knowledge of standard administrative practices and documentation procedures.
  • Ability to support training initiatives related to project systems or workflows.
