Job Overview

Ground Technician plays a key role in maintaining clean, attractive, and well-kept outdoor environments. This position is responsible for the care and upkeep of landscaped areas, performing a variety of tasks such as trimming and shaping shrubs, placing mulch, trimming trees, watering, mowing, digging or raking.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Trim and shape shrubs, bushes, hedges and trees to maintain healthy growth and aesthetic appearance.
• Plant, water and maintain annual flowers and seasonal color displays
• Install, refresh and spread mulch in designated landscape beds
• Repair, replace, and maintain landscape edging materials.
• Operate lawn maintenance equipment including mowers, edgers, trimmers and blowers
• Perform routine lawn care tasks such as mowing, edging, weed eating, and debris removal
• Identify and report landscape issues such as plant health concerns, irrigation problems, or safety hazards

• Operate chainsaws for tree/limb removal, brush clearing, and storm cleanup, following best practice felling and bucking techniques
• All other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping and outdoor maintenance
• Good organizational and planning skills
• Good Communication skills
• Ability to pay close attention to detail
• Ability to take direction
• Ability to work with computers
• Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions
• Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment

 

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to obtain required NASA badge.
• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner

 

Working Conditions:

 

• Highly physical outdoor work performed year-round
• Exposure to varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions
• Use of power tools and equipment

 

Physical Requirements:

 

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Frequent bending, lifting, walking and manual labor
